OVERVIEW

In 2025, Calipotatoshop began redefining its identity and direction. As a branding studio and experimental design lab, we asked ourselves a question.


How does design evolve, and how do brands survive? The New Cell is our response to that question. In this project, we explored the concept of design as a living organism. We reinterpreted both design and branding through the metaphor of a cell, not as static outputs, but as vital structures that continuously divide, adapt, and grow. We rewrote the role of design, translating brand evolution and its essential nature into a biological perspective. It proposes a new way of seeing design as an organic system.


DECONSTRUCTED GRAPHICS & ART NOUVEAU ORNAMENTS
We visualized the tension between form and function by dismantling and reassembling the traditional language of ornamentation.


ORNAMENT AS IDENTITY
Graphic emblems, physical objects, binder systems, and skin-like visual tags deliver the idea that design is not just a tool, but a dynamic and evolving structure. By combining the fluid, decorative curves of Art Nouveau with digital construction, we developed a new grammar of visual expression. It suggests a fresh direction for how brands can be expressed through ornamentation.

Cells serve two fundamental roles. Some become part of a larger organism, contributing to the completion of its overall function. Others exist independently, defining and developing their own roles. Yet all cells share a common purpose: they continuously divide and expand, sustaining life and growing in their own way.


The world resembles a vast collective composed of countless cells. These cells must constantly move and evolve to become part of something larger and more resilient. Brands are no different. In a world where dozens or even hundreds of brands are born and disappear each day, each brand must change and grow to survive within the organism of the market, defining its own role and value. Within this constant motion, Calipotatoshop exists as another living cell. While remaining independent, it must also serve as a meaningful link that helps other cells grow into part of a greater whole. Guided by the principle of making things desirable and worth purchasing, we speak through the language of design and act as both collaborator and connector.


At times, we become part of a larger organism, working closely with clients to elevate brand value and propose new directions. Completing brand narratives visually and expanding their presence in the market are the results of deep collaboration. Through this process, we uncover the essence of each brand and amplify its inherent value. At other times, we operate independently through internal projects and research. Calipotatoshop continually explores the fundamental nature of design that shapes the world. We read the flow of the times, prepare for what lies ahead, and reflect on sustainable design. This is a process of challenging ourselves and discovering original design solutions. Expanding the boundaries of design and exploring new possibilities is what allows Calipotatoshop to exist as a meaningful cell within a larger collective.


Reborn as The New Cell, we aim to present new value to our clients and to the world through more flexible and resilient approaches. We will grow together as part of our clients, and at times carve out new paths as an independent presence. Continuous change and challenge define the reason Calipotatoshop exists. This project is a record of our growth and our pursuit of new possibilities.

The cell is a symbol of change and growth. It continuously divides to expand life, adapts to external environments, and sustains its own existence. From this fundamental nature of the cell, Calipotatoshop discovered its design philosophy. The New Cell is a project that embodies the new philosophy and direction of Calipotatoshop. By reflecting on the essence of the cell, we identified the path we must take as a design studio.


    EVOLUTION AND GROWTH

Building on diverse project experiences and accumulated data, we propose more rational and strategic design directions. We value not only aesthetic quality but also tangible impact and results. Through thorough analysis of the client’s industry, market environment, and brand character, we deliver practical and effective design solutions that can be realistically applied and utilized.


    SUSTAINABILITY

Rather than one time design outcomes, we establish structured design systems and manuals that allow brands to maintain consistency and scalability over time. These systems are designed to be applied flexibly across various environments and situations.
