OVERVIEW
© 2025 HYBE. All Rights Reserved.
In the end of 2025, we were asked by HYBE to make a preview video for the release of V(Kim Tae Hyung)’s third photobook 'TYPE 非'. V began his career as a K-POP artist with BTS, known for his distinctive and expressive vocal tone. Over time, his work has expanded into non mainstream genres, while also gaining strong recognition in art and fashion. He continues to shape his own path with a proactive and progressive attitude, establishing himself as an artist beyond predefined categories.
Calipotatoshop was responsible for making a 3D video that announces the release of the 'TYPE 非' photobook and reflects V’s focused gaze and artistic sensibility. TYPE 非 is a special photobook composed of diverse concepts and unconventional direction. For this reason, our approach was to develop the artwork without compromising any part of the original photo content, video material, or HYBE’s planning intent. The TYPE 非 photobook consists of 20 chapters, and HYBE requested a flexible arrangement of 20 screens to correspond with this structure. The final result is a combination of our design and composition proposals and HYBE’s overall planning direction.
Below is an outline of our production process and how the 20 screens were distributed.

01 VIDEO LAYOUT & ARRANGEMENT
The video footage provided by HYBE varied in mood, color, and aspect ratio. We first edited all clips into seven second segments, then placed the shots that best conveyed V’s presence at the center. From there, we arranged the surrounding videos while considering the overall silhouette and proportions of the final TV stack. Two additional scenes that felt essential were selected and placed on built in mini screens within the TVs. Although these mini screens are barely visible in the final output due to their size, every shot was valuable, and we wanted to avoid excluding any meaningful moment.

02 MODELING
We modeled a range of TVs, from 1980s vintage units to modern signage monitors, each with different sizes, ratios, and colors. The isolated room used as the background was textured with worn concrete to convey the passage of time. Nineteen vintage TVs were stacked within this space, and a static camera setup with a single light source was used to keep attention focused entirely on the screens. Wires extending from each TV object were arranged behind the stack and across the floor to increase visual density and reinforce the scene’s atmosphere.
(Excluding the two mini screens,) The viewer encounters a total of 20 screens: 19 independent screens first and 1 large main screen last.

03 VIDEO INTEGRATION
03 VIDEO INTEGRATION
03 VIDEO INTEGRATION
03-1. Fourteen TV screens (~06:19s)
Based on the layout planned in stage one, we placed the selected footage of V into fourteen of the TV screens.
03-2. Five TV screens (~06:19s)
For the remaining five screens, we produced a series of two dimensional kinetic typography videos labeled 001 through 005. These motion pieces were built using the letters TYPE 非 and V. Each sequence applied kinetic motion along with CRT texture and noise to achieve a vintage tone.
TYPE 001
Letter 'V' + Soft motion + Vintage computer loading vector at bottom + Typing effect on top text + Pixelation & CRT effects
TYPE 002
A quote based on V’s gaze and mood + Green glow + CRT typing effect
TYPE 003
Letter 'TYPE 非' + Smooth and active motion + Yellow glow + Pixelation & CRT effects
TYPE 004
Letter 'TYPE 非' + Smooth and active motion + Low saturation blue glow + Pixelation & CRT effects
TYPE 005
Text 'KIM TAE HYUNG' + Smooth and active motion + Monotone & white glow + Pixelation & CRT effects

03-3. ONE MAIN TV SCREEN (07:00s ~)
After the seven second playback of the individual screens, the TYPE 非 logo expands across the entire TV stack as a single large display. Release information then appears alongside the same logo, concluding the video.

Following the direction of the production team, TV noise sound effects were used as the base. Additional white noise was layered subtly to stimulate the viewer’s hearing without causing discomfort.
